Adaptive Optimization
Adaptive Optimization™ (AO) allows operators to unlock significant extra capacity for new IP services without the need for additional frequency resources. It achieves this with a unique combination of intelligent optimized Pseudowires and hitless Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM).
AO can increase throughput by up to 500 percent, without compromising quality or availability. It provides maximum benefit at aggregation points where traffic from multiple cell site clusters is combined using statistical multiplexing.
The chief component of the Adaptive Optimization solution is the Eclipse Optimization Gateway, which combines RAN Optimization and Pseudowire technology to significantly increase a network’s backhaul capacity.
Adaptive Optimization is a key feature of the Eclipse Packet Node solution, delivering operators much needed bandwidth to support service expansion and next-generation services such as 3.5G/HSPA or 4G/LTE.
- Intelligent Pseudowire emulation
- Makes Adaptive Modulation carrier class by maximizing 5x9’s available capacity
- Co-channel Dual Polarization support (XPIC)
- Ethernet frame optimization, including IFG and pre-amble suppression
- Migration path for packet-based transport
