Eclipse™ Optimization Gateway
The Eclipse Optimization Gateway provides an immediate solution to the backhaul bottleneck challenges facing many mobile operators who are struggling with severe limitations in available backhaul frequencies.
The Optimization Gateway combines RAN Optimization and Pseudowire technology to free up additional backhaul capacity, functioning as a gateway between the BTS/BSC and the transmission network infrastructure. This new capacity can then be applied to new high availability IP-based services, avoiding the immediate need to upgrade existing backhaul infrastructure and without new or additional frequency allocations.
Through the Optimization Gateway, GSM and 3G interface traffic is optimized and statistically multiplexed with new IP and Ethernet traffic. The gateway is suitable for deployments in GSM, CDMA, TDMA and AMPS networks.
- Reduced OPEX/minimized CAPEX by increasing backhaul capacity without adding transmission resources
- Reduces transmission capacity requirement in proportion to the effective traffic usage
- Cell site aggregation: up to 3:1 backhaul capacity reduction
- Supports GSM 2G/2.5 G (Abis, Ater, A/E, Gb/Gn) and 3G (UMTS/W-CDMA) interfaces
- High-speed Serial and Ethernet with choice of: Frame Relay, IP/MLPPP, ATM IMA interfaces
- Supports Pseudowire for IP links
- Integrated management with Aviat’s ProVision Element Management platform
