Aviat WTM 3200
Advanced All Outdoor Microwave Networking

Efficient Microwave Networking for Space and Power Restricted Sites
The Aviat WTM 3200 is an advanced all outdoor packet radio featuring an advanced Carrier Ethernet switch and highly scalable microwave transport platform. Equipped with QPSK to 1024 QAM modulation in frequency bands from 6 to 42 GHz, the WTM 3200 supports throughput rates up 1 Gbit/s. Low power consumption (<35 Watts) and simplified cabling ensures the WTM 3200 maximizes installation, operations and maintenance efficiency at small sites.
Flexible Radio Performance & Low Power Consumption
The Aviat WTM 3200 delivers high system gain, low power consumption and Adaptive Modulation steps from QPSK to 1024 QAM. This combination enables maximum flexibility for radio network planning and ensures minimal energy costs. In addition, features such as Radio Link Aggregation and IF combining (space diversity) further enhance microwave networking performance and flexibility.
Efficient Installation and Configuration
The WTM 3200 uses in-line power injectors (PoE) to support zero footprint deployment, quick installation and low operation and maintenance costs. Network efficiency is further enhanced for ring sites where the WTM 3200’s East/West configuration eliminates the need for an additional switch to manage ring protection. Rapid deployment of the WTM 3200 is achieved using ePortal, an embedded and user-friendly browser based configuration and management tool.
Networks and Applications
The WTM 3200 complements Aviat Network’s all-indoor and split-mount microwave networking portfolio. It provides an optimized solution for operators that face the challenge of extending their networks to increasingly small all-outdoor sites in order to serve the growing demand for IP-based applications and services. Deployment scenarios for the WTM 3200 include:
- Mobile RAN networks: Backhaul for access sites with 3/4G base-stations
- Rural and urban xDSL networks: High capacity connections to micro exchanges
- Fixed line access networks: Broadband connections for enterprise customers
- Electric SmartGrid networks: Sub-station interconnect
- Public safety and security networks: TETRA radio backhaul and border sites access
- Oil and gas networks: High capacity connections to field and pipeline infrastructure
Interoperability and Security
The WTM 3200’s Carrier Class Ethernet switch supports advanced traffic management, security and control features. It can be quickly integrated and harmonized with existing (deployed) Carrier Ethernet networks and devices such as the Aviat Eclipse GE3 switching platform. The WTM 3200 also provides the added security of AES encryption for management and payload traffic.
